Updated November 5, 2004. As some of you may know, this year I
packed my bags, and headed back to Salina, Kansas, where my mom lives. The cats and I survived the trip,
departing around September 1st, 2004, and meowing all the
way. Hopefully, the movers will be
bringing the rest of my belongings, especially the fabric, later this
month. On the other hand, whoever
said there was no such thing as too much fabric was mistaken. Carting bins of fabric down the stairs
from my old apartment in California resulted in a major case of
Sciatica. Needless to say, we are not
yet having fun raking fall foliage. J |

ROAD 2 CALIFORNIA, January 17, 2004 My first real quilt show with over 1000 quilts
and expected attendance of over 20,000. As you see below, while perhaps a bit
over-shadowed, my quilts "I Am Woman" and "Sands of Time"
from my Reflections series were in the good company. See the winners at the Road 2
California web site. I was pleased
to have 2 pieces juried in. FINE FOCUS, 2004 Also in the news, "Bridge to Eternity" from the same Reflections series has been juried in and been selected to be in Fine Focus 2004, a traveling show of 50 small quilts. Another honor to be selected as a participant. For a list of venues, and pictures eventually, see the Fine Focus web site. |

MY
WORLD IN BLACK AND WHITE A trip to the Ontario Museum of History and Art the same weekend to view another collection. an online competition, where my quilt "William and Mary" took first place. A wonderful collection of quilts that will be traveling around the country during the coming year. My quilt is a collection of photos of my great grandparents throughout their lives. You can see the entire show, put together by friend Annie Copeland, at her web site, www.fiberartsconnsocal.org |

My first juried multimedia art show at the
San Pedro Art Association, Ports of Call, San Pedro.

|
Pictured are my first three pieces from the
Reflections collection, comprised of reduced versions of "The Muse",
and "Bridge to Eternity", as well as a the third piece, "Rites
of Spring". All approximately 16" x 16" in size, they will be hanging
in the museum gallery of the San Pedro Art Association, at Port's of Call in
San Pedro. As you can see, it is a wonderful small
museum, light and airy. Needless to say, I am very pleased to have been
selected. The exhibit will run through the end of
July, and the gallery is open Fridays through Sundays, from 11am to 4pm. The SPAA also sponsors an art show outside the museum the third Sunday of every month, and if you watch the news, you might see just see me there |

My First Art Show OK. Nothing actually sold. But it was most indeed a wonderful learning experience. I took my first two pieces from the new reflections series I have started work on, and met up with Anne Copeland, a great friend, quilt artist, and appraiser. We met up with Isabella, another member of the quiltart group and erected our two "tents". Sadly, in spite of the advertising, there was a lack of customers this day at Sunflower Farms nursery in Gardena, but it was a great setting. |

Roses and flowers everywhere, with a
fascinating display of stone sculptures, wandering fat tabbies, and birds. The
wind blew like crazy, and the sun shone down. I came home tired and sunburned,
but happy for the experience. The wind made picture taking very difficult, but
we managed to get a few decent shots.

Here's Annie holding "The Muse",
in front of the Honda, and the roses. Below, Annie holding the "Bridge to
Eternity", with a nice view of Isabella's booth full of great hand dyed
pieces and quilts. Hopefully, there will soon be some better shots of the gallery page, along with many more new pieces, which will also be for sale, in my first art series, "Reflections". |
